To get from Taipei to Pingtung, the quickest and easiest way is to take the high-speed rail to Zuoying Station and then transfer to a local TRA train to Pingtung Station. Traveling to Taitung, you are like returning to nature, where you can breathe in the fragrant of rice or the characteristic saltiness of the sea. And I recommend the roselle concentrated cyrup and mocha MUST BUY. Night market is a must visit place if you are in Taitung and Taiwan in general, no questions asked. Taitung night market is not as big as I expected but still good place to have local snacks. Apparently they do not open on Sunday (?) so we’re glad that we came here on Saturday. Rock formations are so unique and beautiful it just out of our imaginations. There are some sandstone layers that’s super smooth and some facing ocean has various size of round holds.
Siwei Night Market – more for foodies than souvenir shoppers, this market is near Taitung Night Market and offers an overwhelming amount of Taiwanese cuisine and street food. Pose with the art decorations, enjoy the coastal view and breeze. Green Island - this island located off the east coast of Taitung offers coral beaches, tropical forests, and fresh saltwater hot springs.

If successfully traversed, an offline map can be obtained for navigation to Penpen Mountain. The art center, known as 國立臺東生活美學館, constantly refreshes its exhibition, showcasing 20 new masterpieces annually. The collection features professional artworks that offer a delightful visual experience. Moreover, the center regularly updates its displays to ensure visitors encounter fresh and captivating pieces. Situated at the 110.5-kilometer mark on the coastal highway, Sanxiantai consists of a headland facing a small island in the sea. The island is surrounded by coral reefs and a multitude of tropical fish, making this an ideal spot for skin diving.
If you’re looking for local restaurants or food specialties in Taitung, you’re in luck! Located in the heart of Taitung City, the museum features a collection of contemporary  art, highlighting the works of local and international artists. So, pack your swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen and head to Zhiben for a relaxing and rejuvenating hot spring experience.
The service staff in the restaurant are very enthusiastic and polite. The reception staff in the lobby also received us very warmly. We wet the quilt in the middle of the night because there were children, and the service staff were also very kind and helped us to change the quilt. Living in Taiwan for a few years, I have heard many stereotypes of Taiwanese aboriginals. While I am not sure about these stereotypes, I suspect the latter probably  originated from tribal millet wine.

Highway #11 splits off from the #9 just south of Hualien City then follows the coast, with the two meeting up again in Taitung City. From Taitung to Kenting, the #9 continues south to Pingtung County, where it crosses to the west coast and meets up with Provincial highway 26 for the final leg down to Kenting. East Taiwan Bus offers routes between major townships on the South Link line and Taitung City. This bus runs between Taitung Transfer Station and Taitung Station, stopping at various points in Taitung City.
